Is a career change on the cards?

In days gone by workers used to stay in their jobs and careers for most of their adult life but now many people are much more flexible in their working life and change jobs or even careers more often. This was once frowned upon but now it is much more acceptable and rarely hinders a person’s career progress.

If you feel that the job or career that you are in currently is not fulfilling or has no future prospects perhaps it is time to look at alternatives, but where to start?

The first thing to consider is whether the qualifications that are held are appropriate for the new career that you are thinking of. If you do not hold the relevant qualifications you may need to do some further training before you can start applying for positions.

If you do hold the right qualifications it is worth having a look at your CV and making sure it is up to date with relevant experience that you have gained in your present role that may be pertinent to the new role. Skills such as good organisation are transferable to many other jobs and careers.

It is important to persevere if you are trying to change careers and keep trying other avenues if you get knocked back initially as the rewards and job satisfaction will be worth it.
