How to Perfect your Teaching CV

Teaching is a specialist subject and you will need much more than a CV to be good at it. However, if you do have a strong CV, this is the basis of job hunting and will set you in good stead within the job market. Here are some ways you can improve your teaching CV:

  • Get the layout right. You should set out your CV in a conventional, easy to read layout. The main thing is that employers can look through it easily.
  • Show relevant experience. Only show experience that supports you professionally. Show teaching positions and professional positions, but make sure you have a reason for putting them on there (i.e. they taught you new skills).
  • Build up experience. Get a foot in the door by working as a supply teacher or teaching new subjects or curriculums. This helps to make you a more rounded teacher who is highly employable.
