Some Tips for Career Progression
It’s natural that you should want to progress in your career, especially if you are ambitious and career driven. It can sometimes feel as though you are a bit at a dead end in your job, so if you feel this way, we have some tips to help:
- Talk to your boss openly and honestly. Make it clear where you want to be and that you are happy to take on additional responsibilities. If progression was discussed in your interview, bring this up as a reference.
- Make sure you are being seen and heard by the right people. Talk to senior members of staff, come up with new ideas and make sure the bosses hear about them.
- Take a course. This could be online or during the evenings, and it will help you to become more qualified to take on those senior positions.
Of course, if all else fails, the simplest answer is to find a new job. This can take lots of hard work initially – you want to find the right one – but it can really pay off in the future.
